Cleaning an HP Probook 4520s laptop from dust

HP Probook 4520s

Cleaning the laptop - not quite obvious, but necessary operation,  which laptop users often forget about. Inside the laptop case is a cooling system that removes a large amount of heat generated during the operation of the processor and, if available, a discrete graphics card. The design of such a cooling system is made in the form of a flat copper heat pipe, a small aluminum radiator and a cooler that pumps cold air through the radiator to speed up the process of heat exchange with the environment.

More than 50% of laptop breakdowns are caused by untimely maintenance of the laptop cooling system, which leads to a decrease in its efficiency due to clogging of the radiator with household and industrial debris, as well as fine particles that are constantly in the air (for example, dust).

Also, household dust can be deposited on the laptop motherboard, which in turn can cause incorrect operation of electronic components, or even lead to a short circuit in the electrical circuit (since dust can conduct electricity under certain circumstances), so it also should be cleaned.

As an illustration, here are photos of an HP laptop cooling system that has not been cleaned for about two years. The photo on the left shows how the radiator is clogged with dust, completely blocking the normal course of the air flow, which in the short term will certainly lead to the failure of the central processor and / or video card. In the photo on the right, this radiator has been cleaned.

You can recognize the need to dust your laptop by the following symptoms:

  • Permanent or intermittent slowdowns of Windows and/or programs;
  • Strong heat in certain areas of the bottom of the laptop case;
  • Constant operation of the cooler at maximum speed (increased noise level).

The frequency of cleaning a laptop from dust directly depends on the place of its installation and the state of its environment. So, if the laptop is operated in a relatively clean room, then clean the laptop it is necessary once a year, if the room is smoked or animals are kept, then the cleaning procedure should be carried out twice as often.

Also, do not forget about replacing the thermal paste located directly between the processor and the cooling system pad, which tends to dry out over time and prevent heat transfer. When cleaning a laptop from dust, our specialists will without fail replace the thermal paste in order to return the performance of the cooling system to the level provided by the equipment manufacturer.

Currently, the company cleans laptops from all manufacturers, namely: Apple, HP, ASUS, Acer, Lenovo, Samsung, MSI, Fujitsu-Siemens, Toshiba, Dell, Sony.

Now, as you understand, cleaning a laptop from dust in Minsk is a necessary procedure for its long and trouble-free operation.
